Two iconic Norwich businesses are coming together to create one outstanding city centre destination.
Les Garrigues French Food and Wine and Louis’ Deli are soon to be under the same roof, offering customers an even more exciting café, bistro and fine wine experience.
It was three years ago now that Damien and his family opened Les Garrigues on St John Maddermarket.
Their aim was to bring directly imported organic, biodynamic and natural wine to Norwich from the Languedoc region where Damien’s family is from.
They also wanted to offer a selection of delicious cheeses, charcuterie and other French delicatessen products.
The idea was that people could pop in to buy wine, cheese and saucisson –
or they could sit down for an hour or two to share tasty cheese or meat platters, enjoy the wine and simply absorb the authentic feeling of France.
"UN VRAI BIJOU - THE SOUTH OF FRANCE IN THE EAST OF ENGLAND!~Friendly, knowledgeable service combined with excellent value, high quality and wholly authentic wines, charcuterie and condiments. Bien joué Damien!"
Les Garrigues quickly became a sought-after Norwich destination and it soon became clear the business was limited by the space and the facilities of the shop.
By great good fortune, however, the opportunity arose to move to the much-loved Louis’ Deli on Upper St Giles and to bring the two popular establishments together.
The businesses share the same ethos: a passion for sourcing quality products; a friendly, professional service and a warm and convivial ambience, which is valued by the community.
"Delicious breaky stop~I stumbled upon this gorgeous deli this morning for breakfast. I had the special breakfast, the poached eggs were perfect and combination of flavours were delicious. Lovely staff, generous portions, quick service and very cute deli!"
We realised the move would give us the opportunity to develop both Louis and Les Garrigues further – and to bring something truly unique to our customers.
In addition to the breakfasts, sausage rolls, homemade ready meals and mouth-watering cakes that Louis is so famous for, we will now be serving a range of light French delicacies.
These will include tartines and other lunchtime dishes, as well as the delicious cheese and charcuterie boards that Les Garrigues has become known for.
"Incredible~Wonderful service, delicious meat and cheese platters & beautiful wine. There really is nowhere like this in Norwich to relax with friends while drinking and nibbling"
At the new St Giles location, we will be extending the opening hours until 10pm from Wednesday to Saturday.
We will also be bringing you an even more extensive selection of carefully selected organic, biodynamic and natural wines from across France.
There will be some 80 to 100 wines to buy and we will always have a selection of 20 wines available by the glass at any given time.
The additional space will also allow us to create a dedicated wine tasting room, where we will host regular tastings, and to take party bookings.
To achieve our goal we need to maximise the space at Louis. The renovation project has presented challenges, which is inevitable with a very old building.
Our costs have risen as a consequence and we are hoping you will help us complete the project so we can open our doors to welcome you in as soon as possible.
We have a variety of rewards to offer should you wish to support the project.
For example, should you pledge £50, we will look forward to welcoming you with a bottle of Crémant de Bordeaux and mixed cheese and charcuterie board for four people.
Please look at the list of rewards to see all our exciting offers.
